Sacheon-si Holds Meeting to Expand Strawberry Exports

Actively Discussing Key Issues for Diversifying Export Routes of Locally Produced Strawberries and Promoting New Strawberry Varieties

On the 12th, Sacheon City in Gyeongnam announced that it held a meeting in the mayor's office at City Hall to discuss expanding the export of Sacheon strawberries, focusing on diversifying export routes for strawberries produced by the Kunming Regional Export Agricultural Cooperative and promoting new strawberry varieties.

The meeting was attended by Mayor Park Dongsik, Kim Jongcheol CEO of Gyeongnam Trade, Kim Jongbae Chairman of Kunming Strawberry Export Agricultural Cooperative, Lee Heegyun Chairman of Kunming Agricultural Cooperative, Kim Seongil Director of the Agricultural Technology Center, and related officials, who exchanged various opinions on expanding the export of Sacheon strawberries.

A meeting is being held in the mayor's office at Sacheon City Hall to discuss the expansion of Sacheon strawberry exports.

The main topics included a proposal to include Sacheon strawberries in the fresh agricultural products export items of Gyeongnam Trade, as well as discussions on promoting the new strawberry variety ‘Honghee’ cultivated in the Sacheon area and plans for future overseas promotional events.

Sacheon strawberries have played a key role in Sacheon City's fresh agricultural product exports, exporting 333 tons to six countries including Vietnam in 2024.

At the meeting, Mayor Park Dongsik stated, “To stabilize the domestic market and support exporting farmers, we will actively cooperate with Gyeongnam Trade to expand the export of Sacheon strawberries and provide strong support so that the quality of Sacheon strawberries is recognized on the global stage.”
