Average Annual Sales Growth of 20% Over Five Years
Aggressive Production Investment Announced... Collaboration with NVIDIA and OpenAI
Krafton announced on the 11th that it achieved record-breaking performance last year with consolidated annual sales of 2.7098 trillion KRW and operating profit of 1.1825 trillion KRW. Sales and operating profit grew by 41.8% and 54%, respectively, compared to the previous year.
Krafton explained that the steady growth and sustainability of the PUBG IP were the foundation of this growth. Over five years, sales recorded an average annual growth rate of 20%, and in the fourth quarter of last year alone, sales reached 617.6 billion KRW and operating profit 215.5 billion KRW. These figures represent increases of 15.5% and 31.1%, respectively, compared to the same period last year.
According to Krafton, 'PUBG: Battlegrounds' PC and console versions achieved a peak concurrent user count of 890,000 last year after transitioning to a free-to-play service. Thanks to the IP collaboration effects with other brands, combined sales in the PC and console segments grew to approximately 1 trillion KRW annually. Battlegrounds Mobile India also set a record for the highest sales ever, resulting in a 35.7% year-on-year increase in total mobile segment sales.
Krafton stated that it will aggressively invest in production to secure 'Big franchise IPs' following the expansion of the PUBG IP franchise and the 'Scale-up the Creative' strategy. Through this stepwise growth and game development, the company revealed its mid-to-long-term goal of achieving 7 trillion KRW in total sales and doubling its corporate value within the next five years.
The company will also strengthen its competitiveness in artificial intelligence (AI). Through collaboration with NVIDIA and OpenAI, it plans to introduce new gameplay to the global gaming market by advancing AI technologies such as CPC (Co-Playable Character).
Kim Chang-han, CEO of Krafton, said, “We plan to accelerate the discovery of new franchise IPs and further strengthen our competitiveness in the global gaming market,” adding, “We will grow into a company that creates future gaming experiences through AI technology and expands the global entertainment ecosystem.”
