The 'Makethon' is an open problem-solving, practice-oriented education combining education, learning, team projects, and competitions. This Makethon was conducted targeting engineering undergraduates, aiming to converge IoT technology using AI (D.N.A.), a promising technology of the 4th Industrial Revolution era, and edge devices related to the IoT industry and technology.

Participants challenged themselves with the task of implementing a lighting control device using IoT technology under limited conditions, developing creative and practical smart home appliance products.

Students from 14 domestic and international teams completed the implementation of Alexa-based functions equipped with AI voice recognition technology, achieving the result of realizing innovative technology into actual products. In particular, they demonstrated creativity and problem-solving skills in the process of designing and implementing practical products combining AI and IoT technologies, gaining experience applying core technologies of the 4th Industrial Revolution in the field.

The Pusan National University Engineering Education Innovation Center (Director Ko Jong-su, Professor of Mechanical Engineering) is focusing on nurturing creative and convergent engineering talents through this Makethon, while continuously supporting students to acquire globally competitive technical capabilities. Pusan National University plans to continue providing various programs that offer students innovative technology and practical experience.

A representative from Pusan National University stated, “This 'Lifestyle Smart Home Appliance Makethon' was a place where creative ideas and technical achievements combining IoT and AI technologies bore fruit, becoming an important experience venue for students toward a better future.”
