Jeollanam-do will invest a total of 259.6 billion KRW this year in environmentally friendly livestock projects, including the modernization of livestock facilities (smart livestock farming), individual manure treatment and resource recycling, and the expansion of forage crop production infrastructure.
The province will focus on implementing 90 projects under five key strategic tasks: establishing an environmentally friendly livestock foundation and fostering smart livestock farms, proper treatment of livestock manure and creation of a pleasant livestock environment, upgrading the quality of livestock products and securing stable sales channels, stabilizing livestock farm management, and fostering a mature animal welfare culture.
For each detailed strategic task, to establish an environmentally friendly livestock foundation and foster smart livestock farms, the province will support six projects with a total of 58 billion KRW, including 15.8 billion KRW for modernizing livestock facilities, 20 billion KRW for the Green Livestock Promotion Fund, 11 billion KRW for ICT convergence support in the livestock sector, and 7.3 billion KRW for creating smart livestock complexes, to strengthen the competitiveness of the livestock industry.
To ensure proper treatment of livestock manure and create a pleasant livestock environment, the province will support 13 projects with a total of 38.8 billion KRW, including 4.6 billion KRW for individual manure treatment facilities, 3.2 billion KRW for compost maturation promotion, 1.6 billion KRW for odor reduction facilities and equipment, 7.5 billion KRW for supplying odor-reducing microorganisms, 5 billion KRW for compost and liquid fertilizer resource recycling, and 14.1 billion KRW for livestock manure energy facilities, thereby creating a pleasant livestock environment and leading coexistence with local residents.
To upgrade the quality of livestock products and secure stable sales channels, the province will support 28 projects with a total of 111.5 billion KRW, including 95 billion KRW for expanding the forage crop production base, 3 billion KRW for fostering Hanwoo calf brands, 1 billion KRW for Hanwoo registration, 1.3 billion KRW for top-quality Hanwoo production and development facilities, 1.8 billion KRW for modernizing livestock markets, 2 billion KRW for comprehensive livestock product processing and distribution facilities, and 1.8 billion KRW for livestock product traceability management.
To foster a mature animal welfare culture and establish pet infrastructure, the province will support 11 projects with a total of 10.2 billion KRW, including 2 billion KRW for establishing and operating animal protection centers, 2 billion KRW for neutering stray cats and outdoor dogs, 4.3 billion KRW for supporting the closure or conversion of dog breeding farms, and 1 billion KRW for creating a pet theme park, thereby promoting animal welfare and pet-rearing culture.
To stabilize the management of livestock farms, the province will support 32 projects with a total of 41.1 billion KRW, including 10 billion KRW for livestock disaster insurance premiums, 1.7 billion KRW for heat stress alleviation agents, 1 billion KRW for facilities to prevent heatwave damage, 1.5 billion KRW for interest support on feed purchase loans, and 7 billion KRW for supporting feed cost increases for small-scale Hanwoo farms, aiming to stabilize the income of livestock farmers.
