Full-Scale Launch of Corporate Cooperation and Balanced Development Policies
Promoting Customized Economic Policies for Regional Growth
On the 6th, Gumi City in Gyeongbuk officially launched the 'Gumi City Local Era Committee' and began full-scale policy promotion for region-led development. This move is evaluated as a strategic step for balanced regional development and attracting corporate investment.
Kim Jang-ho, Mayor of Gumi City, is speaking at the launch ceremony of the Local Era Committee on the 6th.
Last May, the city enacted the Ordinance on Supporting Local Autonomy Decentralization and Balanced Regional Development in Gumi City, establishing the legal basis for the Local Era Committee. The committee consists of 20 members from civil society organizations, the business sector, academia, politics, and public officials to reflect the voices of diverse stakeholders.
The committee is responsible for exploring policies that revitalize the local economy and are business-friendly through regular meetings, as well as discovering and proposing policy tasks for balanced development. Through this, the city plans to lead practical changes by establishing customized economic policies for the region.
As a follow-up program to realize the local era, the city plans to operate the Local Era Talk Concert and Local Era Academy to strengthen communication with citizens, while collaborating with companies to build a sustainable growth model.
Kim Bong-gyo, chairman of Yongun Education Foundation, who was appointed as the inaugural chairman on the day, stated, “To address issues such as weakened regional industrial competitiveness and youth population outflow caused by concentration in the metropolitan area, we will lead the local era and actively promote policies linked with companies.”
In his congratulatory speech, Gumi Mayor Kim Jang-ho emphasized, “The Gumi City Local Era Committee will be a cooperative platform where local residents directly participate. Through cooperation with companies, we will create quality jobs and lay the foundation for economic growth, and together with citizens, we will build a local stable era where people can be born, work, and enjoy life in Gumi.”
