Chonnam National University announced on the 6th that it has been selected as an operating university for the "2025 Korea-Japan Joint Higher Education Student Exchange Program (Short-term Course)" for the second consecutive year.

This program is part of the GKS (Global Korea Scholarship) project organized by the National Institute for International Education, aiming to promote friendship and nurture talent between Korea and Japan. Through this initiative, Japanese university students are supported to learn the Korean language and culture at Korean universities and directly experience specialized fields related to their majors.

This year, a total of nine universities, including Chonnam National University, have been selected as operating universities.

Last year, Chonnam National University's Office of Global Affairs and College of AI Convergence collaborated to run a short-term AI and engineering specialized course for 22 Japanese university students.

With government funding of 110 million KRW, the university provided a systematic and in-depth program including customized experimental and practical training, institutional visits, and special Korean language lectures. The course combined theory, practice, and cultural experiences, and has been highly regarded for its significant contribution to fostering friendship between higher education institutions in Korea and Japan.

Currently, Chonnam National University has established a strong global network by signing exchange agreements with 656 higher education institutions in 65 countries worldwide. Based on this, the university is establishing itself as a "glocal talent nurturing university" that creates a sustainable world together with the local community.

Park Minseok, Director of the Office of Global Affairs, said, "Being selected for this program for two consecutive years once again confirms Chonnam National University's internationalization capabilities and global competitiveness," adding, "We will continue to grow as a glocal university on the world stage."
