Unfortunate Shoulder Injury While Exercising Last Week
Excluded from the Entry List for the Riyadh Tournament on the 6th
Ollie Schniederjans Confirmed as Replacement Player
Phil Mickelson (USA), an original member of LIV Golf, will not participate in this year's opening tournament.
On the 4th (local time), he announced on his social media that he injured his shoulder while exercising last week and will not be able to compete in the LIV Golf season opener. LIV Golf will start the 2025 season with the LIV Golf Riyadh tournament held over three days from the 6th in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. At the opening event, Jang Yu-bin, the first Korean player to join LIV Golf, will make his debut.
Mickelson's shoulder injury is reported to be minor. He indicated that he is likely to participate in the second tournament of the season, which will be held over three days from the 14th in Adelaide, Australia. Mickelson's spot was filled by Ollie Schniederjans (USA), a player who briefly competed on the PGA Tour. Last December, he finished 4th in the LIV Golf promotion and did not receive the LIV Golf entry ticket awarded to only one player, but secured a spot in the Asian Tour International Series.
