Over 4,000 Jobs to Be Created Through Yongin Semiconductor Cluster and SOC Projects
Youth Employment Initiatives Strengthened... 6,800 Jobs Secured for Vulnerable Groups
Yongin City in Gyeonggi Province is set to create a large number of local jobs through the development of the Yongin Semiconductor Cluster Industrial Complex and the activation of social overhead capital (SOC).
On the 4th, Yongin City announced that it has established the "2025 Yongin Special City Job Project Promotion Plan," aiming to create a total of 25,211 jobs.
This is an increase of 707 jobs (2.9%) compared to last year's target of 24,504 jobs. The city explained that last year, it created 25,765 jobs, which was 5.15% more than planned.
This year, the city has set four major pillars with the goal of "creating 365 quality jobs": ▲ strengthening job infrastructure ▲ customized job support by social class ▲ building a sustainable job environment ▲ creating jobs in regionally specialized key industries.
According to the plan, the city will provide employment counseling and vocational training to 3,890 people through the Job Center and Saeil Center, and activate the local hiring market by holding job fairs.
For the youth, projects such as the "Yongin Youth Work Bridge" and "University Job (Plus) Center Support" will be implemented to increase youth employment rates, and for vulnerable groups, 5,964 elderly jobs and 840 Hope Dream jobs will be created through respective programs.
In particular, the city will create 1,321 local jobs at the Yongin Semiconductor Cluster in Wonsam-myeon, Cheoin-gu, where SK Hynix will begin construction of a semiconductor production line in March. Additionally, 2,694 jobs will be generated through the expansion of SOC, including road, water supply and sewage, and river maintenance projects.
A city official said, "This year in Yongin, jobs will also increase due to large-scale development projects such as the Platform City and the Advanced System Semiconductor National Industrial Complex," adding, "We will strive to provide quality jobs based on the job project promotion plan."
