"Supporting Juniors' Dreams of Becoming Architects"
Gwangju University (President Kim Dongjin) announced on the 24th that alumnus Jung Juncheol, architect and CEO of Pla Architects, recently donated 3 million KRW as a development fund to support the advancement of the Department of Architecture and the nurturing of junior students.
Jung, who majored in architecture at Gwangju University, began his career at Teje Architecture and gained experience designing various architectural projects at Geumseong Architecture, Gansam Architecture, and Haeahn Architecture, including the Gimpo Tongjin Library, Hoengseong Forest Experience Center, Jeju ICC Anchor Hotel & Resort (Booyoung Hotel), and Myeongdong Four Points Hotel.
In 2019, he established Pla Architects, where he has worked on projects such as AC Hotel Seoul Geumjeong, Gwanhang-ri Monastery, a multipurpose indoor water studio, Shinan Office of Education, Gaedo Island Fishing Village Culture Center, and Seonwon-myeon Community Complex Center. He is also serving as an adjunct professor at Jeonju University, teaching students.
Jung stated, "I wanted to offer some support so that my juniors can focus on their studies and creative practice in a better environment," and added, "I hope this donation will serve as an opportunity to support my juniors' dreams of becoming architects."
A representative from the Department of Architecture at Gwangju University said, "We are grateful for Jung's contribution, which has helped spread the culture of sharing among alumni. It will greatly assist in improving the educational environment and expanding academic programs for students."
