Emergency Response System Activated from 25th to 30th
Swift Action Planned for Emergencies
Information on Local Hospitals and Pharmacies Open During the Holiday
Gwangju Dong-gu (District Mayor Lim Taek) announced on the 21st that it will operate a "Safety Management Measures Period" in preparation for the Lunar New Year holiday. During this period, the district will ensure thorough safety management, including providing emergency medical information.
Dong-gu will implement the "Safety Management Measures Period" from the 25th to the 30th, activating an emergency response system. During this time, four task forces will be organized: the Safety Management Situation Team, Facility Management Team, Road Order Maintenance Team, and Emergency Response Team. The district will also establish a close cooperation system with related organizations such as Dong-gu Public Health Center, Dongbu Police Station, and Dongbu Fire Station.
Additionally, to prevent crowd-related accidents in areas expected to have large gatherings, such as traditional markets and large retail stores, a situation duty team will be on standby at all times. The district plans to respond swiftly to emergencies through safety inspections and on-site monitoring.
Along with this, "Lunar New Year Emergency Medical Information" will also be provided. During the same period, designated as the "Lunar New Year Emergency Response Week," information on local emergency medical centers (Chonnam National University Hospital, Chosun University Hospital) and nearby hospitals and pharmacies that remain open will be made available.
Previously, from the 13th to the 17th, Dong-gu conducted safety inspections of major multi-use facilities to ensure citizens could use them with peace of mind. A joint public-private inspection team was formed to carry out safety checks in the fields of electricity, fire, and gas at a total of 12 locations, including traditional markets, large retail stores, and movie theaters.
Lim Taek, the district mayor, said, "As the Lunar New Year holiday has been extended due to the designation of a temporary holiday, we will make every effort to manage safety from various angles so that returning visitors and citizens can spend the holiday safely and comfortably."
