The bus is reported to have been involved in an accident on the downhill road near Onsu Nambu Station on the morning of the 14th due to "black ice" (thin ice on the road). A netizen who saw the photo commented, "It looks like it slipped because of the icy road," "Wow, I really don't know how this happened," "Even if someone told me to do that, I could never do it," and "It's a relief that it didn't lead to a major accident." Some netizens, upon seeing this photo, said, "This scene looks familiar from recent news," and questioned, "Is this also a kind of car wall?"
Earlier on the 14th, multiple pile-up accidents occurred on roads throughout Gyeonggi Province due to black ice. More than 130 vehicles were involved in accidents during the morning hours, with a total of 19 people injured. According to the Gyeonggi Northern Fire and Disaster Headquarters, three black ice-related accidents occurred on the morning of the 14th on Jayuro in Goyang City and the Seoul-Munsan Expressway. A total of 105 vehicles collided, and 16 people were injured. Around 5:15 a.m. that day, near the Jayuro Gusan IC in Ilsanseo-gu, Goyang City, in the direction of Paju, 44 vehicles including trucks, buses, and passenger cars collided in succession, resulting in one minor injury.
Meanwhile, accidents caused by "black ice," known as the assassin on the road, often occur during late-night hours or early mornings when temperatures drop sharply. It is more dangerous when the temperature is around 2 to 3 degrees Celsius rather than below freezing. Since black ice mainly forms in shaded areas, it is important to reduce speed and maintain sufficient distance from the vehicle ahead when passing tunnel entrances, bridges, or mountain roads to avoid accidents. If you slip without noticing black ice in advance, do not brake hard or turn the steering wheel abruptly; instead, use engine braking to reduce damage. Additionally, checking areas prone to icy road accidents beforehand and planning your drive accordingly is a preventive measure to reduce accidents.
