Daewoo E&C announced on the 15th that it has developed the country's first "Temperature History Tracking Curing System Technology" applying Internet of Things (IoT) technology. This technology is the most accurate curing method to evaluate the quality of structural concrete and is expected to enhance the quality management level at construction sites.

The Temperature History Tracking Curing System installs wireless sensors on the structural concrete to measure temperature, and operates heating and cooling devices in the on-site curing specimen storage container to match the curing temperature of the on-site concrete specimens (test materials made identically to the concrete used during pouring for strength measurement) to the temperature of the structural concrete, thereby curing the specimens.

On the 30th of last month, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport revised the "Concrete Standard Specifications" to strengthen quality control of structural concrete at construction sites. Previously, quality inspections of structural concrete were conducted only when quality was suspected. However, following the 2022 Gwangju apartment collapse accident and the 2023 Geomdan apartment collapse accident, regulations were changed to mandate quality inspections of structural concrete. According to the revised standard specifications, quality inspections of structural concrete must utilize on-site curing specimens.

A Daewoo E&C official stated, "The Temperature History Tracking Curing System is the only IoT-based on-site specimen curing technology in Korea, representing a revolutionary method that can significantly improve quality management levels at construction sites," adding, "We plan to continue efforts to lead the digitalization of quality management and foster a safe construction culture."
