'Table Tennis Hero' candidate Yoo Seung-min (43) defeated Lee Ki-heung, president of the Korea Sports Council, and was elected as the 42nd president of the Korea Sports Council.

On the 14th, candidate Yoo received 417 votes out of 1,209 valid votes in the election for the 42nd president of the Korea Sports Council held at Olympic Hall in Olympic Park, Songpa-gu, Seoul, surpassing competitors Lee Ki-heung (379 votes) and Kang Tae-seon (216 votes). This ended Lee's bid for a third term.
Candidate Yoo is a former national table tennis player who won the gold medal in men's singles at the 2004 Athens Olympics. After retiring, he served as president of the Korea Table Tennis Association and as an athlete representative on the International Olympic Committee (IOC). Yoo Seung-min's term will last until February 2029.
