The Only Duty-Free Operator at Gimpo Airport
Unveiling the House of Suntory Liquor Store
Lotte Duty Free officially opened its liquor and tobacco store at the Gimpo International Airport departure hall last month. As the sole duty-free operator at Gimpo Airport, Lotte Duty Free has strengthened its liquor store and renewed its food store, fully launching the integrated operation of the Gimpo Airport duty-free shop.
Lotte Duty Free has been operating the cosmetics, perfume, and others (DF1) business license since 2022. Then, in March of last year, it was selected as the final operator in the competitive bidding for the liquor, tobacco, and others (DF2) business license.
According to the Korea Airports Corporation aviation statistics, the number of international departures from Gimpo Airport increased by about 22% compared to the previous year. In response, Lotte Duty Free officially opened the liquor and tobacco store, which had been operated in a temporary store format, to meet the growing duty-free demand at Gimpo Airport. It offers about 100 liquor and tobacco brands, from famous whiskeys such as Ballantine’s, Johnnie Walker, and Royal Salute to tobacco products including KT&G and Philip Morris.
At the official liquor store of Lotte Duty Free Gimpo Airport, the Japanese whiskey 'House of Suntory' is operated. This is the only domestic duty-free store selling Hibiki 40 Years and handles Suntory single malt whiskeys such as Yamazaki and Hakushu. In addition, various whiskey lineups such as Bowmore, Laphroaig, and Auchentoshan can also be found. Furthermore, in collaboration with liquor brands, a robotic bartender offering liquor tasting will be introduced to provide customers with a diverse shopping experience.
The food store size has also been expanded about six times larger than before, creating a food brand hall where customers can find food brands such as CJ CheilJedang Bibigo, Daesang Jongga, and Dongwon. In the future, Lotte Wellfood’s brands, including Gillian, one of the world’s top three chocolate brands, will be introduced to strengthen affiliate synergy.
A Lotte Duty Free official stated, "As the sole duty-free operator at Gimpo Airport, Lotte Duty Free will focus on expanding customer benefits through full-category operation," adding, "We will strive to provide customers with a diverse shopping experience."
