Yeongcheon City Holds 2025 New Year Meeting with Geumho-eup Residents

With the establishment of the racecourse park and the extension of Daegu Metro Line 1, Geumho-eup, a hot place in Yeongcheon-si, Gyeongbuk, is rapidly emerging as a new center of Yeongcheon due to the installation of the Geumho-Daechang Hi-Pass IC on the Gyeongbu Line.

Yeongcheon-si, Gyeongbuk (Mayor Choi Gi-moon) announced on the 13th that it successfully held the ‘2025 New Year Meeting with Geumho-eup Residents’ at the large conference room on the 3rd floor of the Geumho-eup Administrative Welfare Center, attended by about 100 people including Mayor Choi Gi-moon, city council members, heads of local organizations, village chiefs, residents, and public officials from their hometown.

The event proceeded in the order of introduction of guests and special invitees, presentation of appreciation plaques, viewing of promotional videos, work reports, greetings, conversations with residents (suggestions), and commemorative photos.

During the event, appreciation plaques were presented to Park Moon-su, CEO of Simbak Co., Ltd., who made Shine Muscat bread and contributed to revitalizing the local economy, and Lee Eun-young, manager of Yeppeun Jaega Senior Welfare Center, who set an example in the local community with her exceptional volunteer spirit. Residents’ on-site complaints such as farm road expansion and drainage maintenance were received, and the heads of the responsible departments attended to provide answers, which received great responses from the residents.

Mayor Choi Gi-moon of Yeongcheon said, “We are redrawing the map of Yeongcheon with projects such as the development of the Geumho-eup station area,” and added, “Please remember that the residents of Geumho-eup are the core of Yeongcheon’s development and take pride and dignity in it.”

Meanwhile, last year, Geumho-eup achieved remarkable success by winning the top prize in the evaluation of eup/myeon/dong administrative performance, the excellence award in the Gyeongsangbuk-do Saemaul Movement evaluation, and the encouragement award in the visiting health and welfare service evaluation, thanks to the passion and cooperation of all residents and organizations.

Geumho-eup is becoming a central area that is changing the map of Yeongcheon as various key policies of Yeongcheon-si, such as the extension project of Daegu Metro Line 1 to Geumho, the installation of the Geumho-Daechang Hi-Pass IC on the Gyeongbu Line, and the establishment of the racecourse park, are being promoted.
