The Baekhwasan Water Park, which opened last year and has been greatly loved by residents of Taean County, Chungnam, has been transformed into an ice sledding rink for the winter season.

On the 13th, Taean County held an opening ceremony for the Baekhwasan Water Park Ice Sledding Rink in Sango-ri, Taean-eup, with County Mayor Ga Se-ro, county council members, and about 50 residents in attendance, officially launching the facility’s operation.

This initiative aims to improve the efficiency of Baekhwasan Water Park, which opened in July last year, and to enhance residents’ satisfaction with local amenities. The county invested a total of 150 million won to create a 30m by 11m (330㎡) ice rink within the water park.

Additionally, a traditional games experience area and other facilities have been set up so residents can enjoy a variety of activities beyond sledding. Convenience has been further improved with the installation of helmet drying facilities and storage lockers.

The facility will be open from the 13th to February 16th, operating from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. It will be closed every Monday.

However, during the upcoming Lunar New Year holidays, it will remain open throughout the holiday period, including temporary holidays, except for the morning of the 29th, the day of the holiday itself. Admission is free.

The county plans to ensure safety by hiring certified safety personnel and maintaining strict cleanliness and management so that both residents and tourists can use the facilities safely.

County Mayor Ga Se-ro said, "Baekhwasan Water Park received great love, attracting about 5,000 visitors during its operation from July 15 to August 15 last year. We will thoroughly manage the newly established ice sledding rink so that it can create memorable winter experiences for our residents."
