Fire at Gimhae Wood Processing Plant... Extinguished After 7 Hours

Firefighters are extinguishing a fire at a wood processing factory in Hallim-myeon, Gimhae-si, Gyeongnam. Provided by Gyeongnam Fire Headquarters

At around 1:17 PM on the 10th, a fire broke out at a wood processing factory in Hallim-myeon, Gimhae-si, Gyeongnam.

According to the Gyeongnam Fire Headquarters, flames and thick black smoke rose from the fire, prompting 17 emergency calls.

Five workers who were in the factory at the time of the fire evacuated on their own, and no casualties were reported.

Fire authorities, who responded following a report from a nearby factory official, controlled the major fire by 2:57 PM and completed extinguishing it by 8:33 PM.

At the scene, 92 personnel including 75 firefighters and 17 wildfire suppression team members, along with 24 firefighting vehicles such as pump trucks, water tanks, and wildfire suppression vehicles, were deployed.

The police and fire authorities are investigating the exact cause of the fire and the extent of the damage.
