Ya6dang "The Baekgoldan Killed Citizens"... Joint Submission of Proposal to Expel Kim Minjeon

Park Sungjoon: "Inviting a Political Terror Group to the National Assembly"
Yong Hyein: "The Starting Point for Rooting Out Rebellion Forces"

On the 10th, the six opposition parties including the Democratic Party of Korea jointly submitted a resolution urging the expulsion of Kim Min-jeon, a member of the People Power Party, who arranged a National Assembly press conference for the 'Anti-Communist Youth Group,' also known as the 'Baekgol-dan.'

Park Sung-joon, the Democratic Party's senior deputy floor leader, said in an interview with reporters immediately after submitting the resolution to the National Assembly Secretariat, "Inviting a political terror group to the National Assembly and allowing them to speak openly is unacceptable."

Park explained, "The Anti-Communist Youth Group was an anti-communist organization under the Cold War regime in the 1950s and 60s and is a relic of history," adding, "Baekgol-dan was a name used during the 1980s under the Chun Doo-hwan regime, where judicial police trampled on human rights."

In fact, Baekgol-dan is a nickname for plainclothes police units that violently suppressed democratization protests in the 1980s and 1990s. The name comes from their wearing of white helmets.

Park said, "Kim's statements such as 'canceling the press conference' or 'not knowing well' are not responsible attitudes for a lawmaker," and explained, "Since these actions prove that he cannot work as a member of the National Assembly, we are submitting the resolution."

Jeong Chun-saeng, a member of the Party for National Innovation, raised his voice, saying, "How can a political scientist not know what Baekgol-dan was? If he didn't know, he has no brain; if he did, he is not sane," adding, "Baekgol-dan wore blue jackets and white helmets, suppressed citizens, and beat them to death. How can that name be invited into the National Assembly?"

Jeong Hye-kyung, a member of the Progressive Party, said, "When I was a junior in college, I saw male students who were carrying nothing get their heads smashed with iron pipes by Baekgol-dan," and criticized, "Kim inviting Baekgol-dan to the National Assembly, the hall of public opinion, to hold a press conference and trying to revive them?who is that for? It is for the traitor Yoon Seok-yeol."

Yong Hye-in, leader of the Basic Income Party, also emphasized, "I believe that rooting out the agitators who disguise anti-constitutional rebellion as patriotism, cover up the eradication of the rebellion forces as political strife, and label investigations as national disorder is the way to uphold the constitution," adding, "Kim's expulsion is the starting point for rooting out the rebellion forces."

Earlier, Kim arranged a press conference for the Anti-Communist Youth Group at the National Assembly Communication Hall the day before, claiming, "What young people want is for the constitution and laws to be enforced fairly." When the press conference of the Anti-Communist Youth Group, which calls itself Baekgol-dan, became controversial, Kim bowed his head through his Facebook, saying, "I sincerely apologize for arranging the press conference without accurately understanding the information and background."
