Increase Water Pressure by Overhauling the Sangsu Pipeline Network
On the 8th, Icheon City in Gyeonggi Province announced that it has newly connected the water supply network by switching the water system in the highland area of Baeksam-myeon, which had experienced low water pressure and inconvenience. 'Water system switching' refers to reorganizing the water supply network between regions to ensure a stable tap water supply.
Residents living in the highland area of Baeksam-myeon had been experiencing weak household water pressure during peak water usage times, causing inconvenience. To resolve this issue, the city maintained the water pipeline connecting Icheon Water Purification Plant and Jeungpo-dong.
The city explained that after the water system switching, there was an increase in water pressure of about 1 kgf/㎠ or more, and water pressure within the pipeline exceeding the water supply design standards was secured.
The city added that during the water system switching process, to prevent cloudy water caused by sudden water pressure changes or water outages, they conducted pipe cleaning and flushing work before the operation, and also performed flushing at key points after the switching. Flushing work refers to the process of removing sediments, rust, and other foreign substances inside the water pipes.
Kim Kyung-hee, mayor of Icheon City, said, "When problems occur with tap water, it causes great inconvenience to citizens' daily lives in a short time," and added, "We will continue to make efforts this year as well to stably supply clean tap water to every household."
