Gongjobon: "If an arrest warrant for President Yoon is executed, the police riot squad will only be responsible for managing the assembly"

Presidential Security Service Refutes Claims of "Mobilizing Riot Police"

The Joint Investigation Headquarters (Joint HQ), investigating the '12·3 Emergency Martial Law Incident,' stated on the 4th that the police riot squad did not participate in the execution of the arrest warrant for President Yoon Seok-yeol.

Gongjobon: "If an arrest warrant for President Yoon is executed, the police riot squad will only be responsible for managing the assembly"

The Joint HQ said, "The police riot squad was only responsible for managing protests and maintaining order around the presidential residence."

Earlier, the Presidential Security Service stated, "We deeply regret that the High-ranking Officials' Crime Investigation Division (HOCI) and the National Investigation Headquarters of the National Police Agency, without any legal basis, mobilized the police riot squad to break through the entrance doors of the security zone and military confidential facilities without the facility manager's permission, even causing injuries to personnel on duty, and unlawfully intruded." They added, "We will hold those responsible and related parties accountable through legal measures for these illegal acts."

The HOCI, with police support, began executing the arrest warrant around 8 a.m. the previous day but was blocked by the Presidential Security Service and ceased the operation around 1:30 p.m. without securing President Yoon's custody. The HOCI reported that they approached within 200 meters of the residence but could not proceed due to a 'wall' formed by about 200 soldiers and Presidential Security Service personnel.
