Appointment of Park Guyong, CEO of Daeyeong Engineering, as New Special Advisor for New Airport

Busan City has appointed Park Guyong, CEO of Daeyoung Engineering, as the new Special Advisor for the New Airport. The appointment ceremony will be held at 9:50 a.m. on the 30th in the protocol room of City Hall.


Park Guyong, the newly appointed Special Advisor for the New Airport, worked at Hyundai Engineering & Construction for 24 years and participated in port construction projects at Busan, Incheon, and Gwangyang ports, which form the foundation for the creation of offshore airport sites. He served as Executive Director of the Civil Engineering Division and Director of the Technology Research Institute at Hyundai Engineering & Construction.


He graduated from the Department of Civil Engineering at Sungkyunkwan University, earned a master's degree from the same graduate school, and obtained a doctorate from the University of Oxford.


He joined Hyundai Engineering & Construction in 1992, served as Executive Director of the Construction Business Division in 2019, and was Director (Executive Vice President) of the Technology Research Institute from 2020 to 2024.


Special Advisor Park is tasked with discussing ways to shorten the construction period to achieve the goal of opening Gadeokdo New Airport by 2029 and reflecting optimal facilities befitting the status of a gateway airport.


Park Guyong, the new Special Advisor, said, “I am very honored to participate in the Gadeokdo New Airport project, which will be responsible for Busan’s future,” and added, “I will do my utmost to achieve the expected results together with Busan City.”
