At around 9:03 a.m. on the 29th, a Jeju Air passenger plane departing from Bangkok, Thailand, crashed while attempting to land at Muan International Airport in Jeollanam-do. The accident involved 175 passengers and 6 crew members on board, resulting in the deaths of 179 people, including 173 Koreans, 2 Thais, and 4 pilots and cabin crew members, with 2 others injured. As the tragic news spread, the entertainment industry and broadcasting community expressed deep condolences and mourned the victims.

Many stars in the entertainment industry sent messages of condolence. Park Myung-soo and Park Na-rae quietly prayed for the deceased with images of chrysanthemums, while the couple Kang Jae-jun and Lee Eun-hyung expressed deep sorrow, saying, "Our hearts are heavy." Actress Lee Si-young shared her sadness, saying, "Thinking of the families and children left behind makes my heart ache even more." Celebrities such as Jo Se-ho, Park Ji-yoon, Do Kyung-wan, and Kim Ji-min also left messages of mourning.
The music industry also saw a continuous wave of tributes. Singer Lim Young-woong proposed a moment of silence before his concert at Gocheok Sky Dome in Seoul on the 29th, stating, "I feel deep sorrow over the heartbreaking news of precious lives lost." Kim Jang-hoon abruptly canceled his year-end concert scheduled at Suncheon Culture and Arts Center that day. G-Dragon, Jang Yoon-jung, and g.o.d’s Park Joon-hyung posted memorial messages and images on social media to honor the victims. IVE and BSS postponed their comeback promotion schedules, and KBS2’s ‘The Ddanddara’ delayed the release of its semifinal album tracks.
The film and broadcasting industries also joined the mourning. The production briefing for the movie 'Secret That Cannot Be Told' and broadcasting schedules related to 'Harbin,' both scheduled for the 30th, were canceled. Additionally, JTBC’s 'Please Take Care of My Refrigerator,' featuring Song Joong-ki and Lee Hee-joon promoting the film 'Bogota,' postponed its broadcast.

Tributes from star YouTube creators continued as well. Kim Na-young postponed her scheduled content upload, expressing "deep condolences to the victims and their families." Lee Young-ja and Pani Bottle also temporarily halted their content postings to join in the mourning.
Meanwhile, the MBC Entertainment Awards scheduled for the 29th were canceled, and the broadcasting companies are reconsidering whether to hold their Drama Awards and Entertainment Awards scheduled for the 30th and 31st.
The government designated a national mourning period from December 29 to January 4 of next year to honor the victims of this tragedy. Accordingly, a solemn atmosphere of mourning is expected to continue nationwide.
