Recently, Indian media outlets including the Hindustan Times reported that Anand Yadav (35) was found collapsed in his home in Kindkalo village, Chhattisgarh state, central India. Yadav reportedly fainted after taking a bath and experiencing dizziness. He was immediately taken to the hospital but eventually passed away. During an autopsy, medical personnel discovered a live chick in Yadav’s throat. The chick measured an astonishing 20 cm in length. However, the chick was later reported to have died.

The medical examiner estimated that Yadav suffocated because the chick blocked his airway and esophagus. The doctor said, "I have conducted over 15,000 autopsies, but this is the first case like this," expressing shock that "it stunned all of us."

Local residents stated that Yadav and his wife had been struggling with infertility for over five years and had sought help from a shaman during this time. It appears that Yadav died after following the shaman’s advice that "swallowing a chick can lead to pregnancy." However, the family said they did not know whether Yadav was truly performing a superstitious ritual, nor did they know when or where he obtained the chick.

Local police are investigating to determine the exact circumstances of the incident.
