‘Palm Surgery’ Scheffler... ‘While Preparing Christmas Dinner...’ Scottie Scheffler

The PGA Tour announced on the 27th (local time) through its website that "Scheffler will miss the season opener, The Sentry (total prize money $20 million), in 2025 due to an unexpected right-hand injury." Scheffler's manager, Blake Smith, explained in a statement, "Scheffler injured his right palm when he was preparing dinner on Christmas and was cut by broken glass shards. Small glass fragments remained in his palm, requiring surgery." He added, "I heard that Scheffler will be able to return 100% within 3 to 4 weeks," and said, "Unfortunately, he will withdraw from The Sentry, and his next scheduled tournament is the American Express (total prize money $8.8 million)."

The PGA Tour will start the 2025 season with The Sentry, held from January 2 on the island of Maui, Kapalua, Hawaii. The tournament features last season’s tour winners and players ranked within the top 50 in the FedEx Cup standings. Following that, the Sony Open (total prize money $8.7 million) will be held from January 9 in Honolulu, Hawaii, and from January 16, the American Express will take place in La Quinta, California.

Scheffler swept 7 wins on the PGA Tour this year alone, had the best year by winning the gold medal at the Paris Olympics and the Hero World Challenge, an event hosted by the ‘Golf Emperor’ Tiger Woods (USA). He received the Jack Nicklaus Award, given to the PGA Tour Player of the Year, for the third consecutive year. This is the first time since Woods (1999?2003, 2005?2007) that a player has won it three years in a row.
