On the 24th, an online community called 'FM Korea' posted a thread titled "What should I do about this? It's hard to buy padded jackets." The author, Mr. A, recently purchased a padded jacket from a famous outdoor brand through a secondhand transaction platform via parcel delivery. Although the item arrived on time, it took a week for Mr. A to receive the jacket because the previous tenant of his house mistakenly returned the parcel, thinking it was a wrongly delivered package.
When opening the parcel box, live or dead larvae were found throughout the padded jacket. White stain marks were also left in various places on the clothing. However, three days after the parcel arrived, the purchase was automatically confirmed according to the secondhand transaction platform’s policy, leaving Mr. A stuck with the maggot-infested jacket he received after a week.
The extended delivery period made it unclear who was responsible for the contaminated jacket, creating a difficult situation. Mr. A lamented, "I can't blame the seller because if they had sent it properly and I had checked it at the time, then it would be the seller's fault, but since it took a week, I don't know who to hold accountable." He added, "I saw photos taken by the seller during inspection, and the other inventory they currently hold did not have such issues," expressing his frustration.
In an interview with a news outlet, Mr. A stated, "The seller said refunds are difficult, and I am currently waiting for a response from the secondhand transaction platform." The system of the secondhand transaction platform, which automatically confirms purchases three days after parcel arrival, has come under scrutiny.
