At Year-End Press Conference, "Kept Promise of Seonghwa's Breakthrough Year"
On the 23rd, Chungnam Governor Kim Tae-heum stated, "Despite the unprecedented situation where the National Assembly reduced the government’s proposed budget, we have secured 10.9261 trillion won in national funding for next year," adding, "I have kept my promise to make this year the starting point for remarkable progress."
Governor Kim held a year-end press conference in the provincial government’s main conference room that day, saying, "Next year’s national funding is the largest ever, and if the government implements a supplementary budget, reaching 11 trillion won will be easily achievable."
He continued, "In terms of investment, we attracted 32.2 trillion won, which is more than double the 14.5 trillion won brought in by former Governor Yang Seungjo during the four years of the 7th popularly elected administration, leading Chungnam to achieve unprecedented results in various fields compared to other cities and provinces."
Regarding foreign investment, he explained, "By personally visiting nine countries including the United States and Japan, we attracted 3.62 billion dollars, which is more than 1.7 times the 2.08 billion dollars secured during the 7th administration," and added, "There was also an unprecedented expansion of 151,800 square meters in the Cheonan 5th Industrial Complex Foreign Investment Zone, which was completely sold out."
He emphasized, "We have resolved major provincial issues that had been stalled, such as the Chungnam National University Naepo Campus, the Dangjin-Daesan Expressway, the development of Anmyeondo Tourist Site, the construction of Seosan Airport, and the establishment of TBN Chungnam Traffic Broadcasting Station."
He said, "We have improved the unreasonable central investment review system for projects fully funded by local governments, and by exempting the Live Together project from central review, we shortened the project period by over a year and expanded the special supply ratio for public rental housing from 60% to 100%."
He also assessed, "With the designation of the Green Ammonia Hydrogen Power Generation Regulation-Free Special Zone, two out of five national carbon capture utilization mega projects (Boryeong and Seosan), and two out of four leading carbon-neutral cities (Dangjin and Boryeong) were selected, demonstrating the status of Chungnam as a Special Province for the Carbon-Neutral Economy."
He further stated, "Senior citizen jobs have been expanded from about 30,000 during the 7th administration to over 50,000, and the honor allowance for veterans has been standardized across 15 cities and counties, increasing from 270,000 won to 400,000 won starting this year."
