Agency: "All vacations used in accordance with regulations"
Group WINNER member Song Minho is being discharged from social service duty amid allegations of inadequate work during his alternative military service.
Song Minho enlisted in the army training center on March 24 last year, completed basic military training, and continued his alternative service as a social service agent. He will complete his service at the Mapo Resident Convenience Facility in Seoul on the 23rd.
However, controversy continues as a media outlet raised allegations of Song Minho's inadequate work just before his discharge. Previously, entertainment media Dispatch reported that Song Minho traveled abroad in October and that he was not seen working afterward. The facility reportedly explained that Song Minho was on 'sick leave,' 'annual leave,' or 'hospitalization.'
As the controversy grew, his agency YG Entertainment stated, "It is difficult to confirm detailed matters related to the artist's service. However, the sick leave was an extension of treatment he had been receiving before his service, and all other leaves were used according to regulations."
Meanwhile, on the 19th, the Mapo Police Station in Seoul received a complaint through the National Police Agency's Civil Petition Service requesting an investigation into Song Minho's habitual attendance manipulation allegations and has started a preliminary investigation. The police are reportedly planning to review CCTV footage from the institution where Song Minho works.
Meanwhile, Song Minho debuted in 2014 with WINNER's first full album '2014 S/S.' He gained attention as a rapper by finishing as the runner-up on Mnet's 'Show Me the Money' Season 4 in 2015. He also gained popularity by appearing on variety shows such as tvN's 'New Journey to the West' and MBC TV's 'I Live Alone.'
