Seo-gu, Gwangju announced on the 23rd that it conducted a cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) promotion and infectious disease prevention campaign on the 20th at the north gate on the 2nd floor of Lotte Outlet Gwangju World Cup Branch.

In particular, along with the campaign on the day, theoretical education by professional instructors and practical training simulating real situations were conducted on ▲CPR ▲automated external defibrillator (AED) usage ▲infant emergency care practice ▲and other emergency response techniques.

Additionally, the program included various activities such as ▲eliminating discrimination and prejudice against people living with AIDS ▲providing accurate information about AIDS ▲free testing for AIDS and tuberculosis ▲guidance on AIDS prevention rules ▲and promotion of handwashing to prevent infectious diseases.

Lee Eun-ju, Director of the Infectious Disease Control Division, said, “CPR greatly helps increase the survival rate and brain function recovery of cardiac arrest patients in emergency situations. Through outreach CPR promotion, we hope that residents and employees will learn and practice CPR directly, making it feel more approachable despite its perceived difficulty and complexity. We also hope this campaign raises awareness of the importance of infectious disease prevention and reduces prejudice against AIDS among residents.”

Meanwhile, Seo-gu plans to operate outreach CPR education and a permanent training center starting February 2025, and will continue to carry out various promotional activities and campaigns to prevent infectious diseases and promote residents’ health.
