"Kids be damned"... Chaos as hospital thief steals 'newborn oxygen pipe'

Newborn Oxygen Cut Off... No Casualties Due to Hospital Response
Hospital: "Suspect Likely Committed Crime to Steal and Sell Copper Pipes"

Recently, an incident occurred at a hospital in India where an oxygen supply pipe was stolen. Thanks to the hospital's prompt response, no casualties occurred.

On the 17th (local time), local media including Times Now India reported that someone broke into a hospital in the Rajgarh area of Madhya Pradesh, India, and cut off the oxygen supply pipe before fleeing. The pipe was part of the oxygen supply system for the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), where more than 20 newborns were admitted. As a result, 12 newborns receiving oxygen were at risk of having their oxygen flow interrupted.

At the time of the incident, medical staff discovered the oxygen supply had been cut off through the crying of the newborns and the alarm system inside the treatment room. Hospital officials investigated the external pipes and found that part of the oxygen supply pipe to the NICU had been stolen. They quickly restored the supply device and activated the backup oxygen supply.

The hospital stated that a similar theft had occurred in a new building about a month ago. Officials suspect that the thief committed the crime to steal copper pipes and sell them. Local police emphasized, “We are identifying the thief and will track them down to the end.”
