Efforts to Enhance Fairness and Prevent Corruption Receive Positive Reviews
The Wando County Council announced on the 20th that it received a Grade 2 in the Comprehensive Integrity Assessment conducted by the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission for 2024.
The Comprehensive Integrity Assessment is an annual evaluation by the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission that comprehensively assesses the integrity levels of public institutions nationwide. This year, for the first time, 17 metropolitan councils and 226 basic local councils out of a total of 243 local councils across the country participated in the evaluation.

The assessment determines the comprehensive integrity grade by combining the 'perceived integrity' measured through surveys of public officials, organizations, experts, and local residents; the 'integrity efforts' evaluating anti-corruption initiatives undertaken by the institution over the year; and the 'corruption status' which deducts points for any corruption incidents that occurred.
The Wando County Council scored a total of 75.8 points, significantly surpassing the overall average of 69.2 points. The council achieved a Grade 2 in the comprehensive integrity assessment by receiving excellent evaluations above the national average for local councils in almost every category.
In its first year of evaluation, the Wando County Council strengthened fairness in the budget review and execution process and reflected residents' opinions in decision-making. In particular, the council made efforts to create a clean and transparent council by conducting ethics education and operating programs to enhance integrity for both council members and staff.
Chairman Kim Yanghun stated, "Achieving such an excellent result in the first year of the local council integrity assessment is thanks to the support of our residents and the consistent efforts of our council members," and added, "We will continue to meet the expectations of our residents and create a clean and fair council."
