Jangheung County Receives Presidential Commendation for Contributions to Childcare Program Development

Support for Childcare Teacher Allowances and Small Rural and Fishing Village Daycare Centers

Jangheung County in Jeollanam-do has received the Presidential Citation in the '2024 Childcare Project Development Merit Government Award' organized by the Ministry of Education.

According to the county on the 19th, the Ministry of Education selected and recognized distinguished contributors to the advancement of childcare projects in 2024, targeting 229 basic local governments, public officials, and individuals nationwide.

The county achieved the remarkable feat of receiving the Presidential Citation in recognition of its efforts to improve the childcare environment through various initiatives. Only three local governments nationwide received the Presidential Citation in this award, and Jangheung County is the only recipient in Jeollanam-do.

Jangheung County is implementing various measures to improve the treatment of childcare teachers, such as providing allowances for childcare teachers, additional salary support for small rural daycare centers, salary support for teachers at private and home daycare centers, and additional salary support for kitchen staff. Utilizing the Hometown Love Fund, the county also supports visiting language therapy services for children using daycare centers to promote healthy growth among infants and toddlers.

Additionally, the county provides child care services for families experiencing parenting gaps, such as dual-income households, and offers additional support for personal expenses. It is also implementing excellent initiatives such as group enrollment in the Daycare Safety Mutual Aid Association and accounting consulting support for daycare centers to reduce their financial burden and create a high-quality childcare environment.

County Governor Kim Sung stated, "I am very pleased that Jangheung County's advanced childcare policies have been recognized externally through the Presidential Citation," and added, "We will continue to actively promote various policies so that infants, parents, and childcare staff can all be happy."
