Gwangyang City Wins Top Prize in Jeonnam Youth Community Revitalization Project

Youth Organization CultureRO Ranks 1st Among 20 Teams

Gwangyang City in Jeollanam-do announced on the 19th that the youth organization 'MunhwaRO' from Gwangyang received the Grand Prize at the 'Jeonnam Youth Community Revitalization Project Sharing Event' hosted by Jeollanam-do on the 18th.


The event, held at the Sol Beach Grand Ballroom Hall in Jindo, was attended by around 100 people from 20 teams representing youth communities from 22 cities and counties in Jeollanam-do, who gathered to share the final outcomes of their community revitalization projects.

Representing Gwangyang City, the youth organization 'MunhwaRO' gave a presentation on various art programs they conducted for isolated and reclusive youth, economically marginalized youth, and youth with physical disabilities.


The activities of Gwangyang's youth organization, which has empathized with the struggles of young people and provided emotional support, left a strong impression. After combining the results of the judges' document and on-site evaluations with the assessments of youth community members, mentors, and city and county officials, 'MunhwaRO' was awarded the Grand Prize, ranking first among the ten final candidates.


Lee Yeryeong, the representative of MunhwaRO and presenter of Gwangyang City's youth community best practice, emphasized the role of youth communities, stating, "If the small efforts of the ten youth community teams in our city continue to accumulate, Gwangyang will become a better place to live."


She added, "We plan to continue helping youth in administrative and cultural blind spots to easily access the arts, and we will support them in discovering their own talents, fostering creativity, and continuously challenging and achieving new things."


Meanwhile, this year, the ten youth community teams in Gwangyang City have made significant contributions to local revitalization and promoted exchange with ordinary citizens through various cultural, artistic, and welfare activities, including providing psychological programs for reclusive and lonely youth, promoting local specialty products and holding flea markets, and building youth communication networks.
