Ethics Training Conducted for All Employees

Hanssem has taken steps to strengthen ethical management.

On the 19th, Hanssem announced the establishment of a Compliance Department under the Ethical Management Office to reinforce and spread a culture of ethical compliance among its executives and employees. Along with this, Hanssem published a revised version of its Code of Ethics, titled “Hanssem Employees’ Pledge,” reflecting changes in social and job environments since the original Code was created in 2016, to fulfill ethical responsibilities and compliance obligations.

Hanssem Strengthens Ethical Management... Revises 'Hanssem-in's Commitment'

The “Hanssem Employees’ Pledge” contains the ethical values and goals that Hanssem and its executives and employees must uphold in their relationships with key stakeholders. It consists of six articles and eighteen items. The six articles are: “Hanssem employees comply with laws and ethics,” “Hanssem employees do their best to satisfy customers,” “Hanssem employees respect the dignity, value, and abilities of executives and employees,” “Hanssem employees pursue mutual growth with partner companies,” “Hanssem employees protect the rights and interests of investors,” and “Hanssem employees contribute to environmental protection and social development.”

In addition to revising the Code of Ethics, specific behavioral guidelines were organized for various situations and communicated to employees to ensure that ethical management is realized concretely in the workplace.

To cultivate a culture of compliance and ethical values among employees, internal training has been expanded. Ethics education is conducted for all executives and employees, and legal and compliance guidelines applied to work processes are detailed according to the characteristics of each department’s tasks. Related training sessions are scheduled to be held more than 50 times by the end of the year.

Since 2022, Hanssem has introduced a “Compliance and Ethics Index Evaluation System” to assess the status of ethical management annually. Legal and ethical issues are reviewed, and areas requiring improvement are identified and addressed. This year, the compliance and ethics status of all organizations was evaluated across about 70 items, with the total score rising from 3.8 last year to 4.4 this year.

Hanssem is also committed to global-level ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) management. Recently, it announced “Hanssemdaum,” a vision and working principles created with direct participation from executives and employees. This includes adherence to social standards such as laws and morals, and maximizing the work capabilities and professionalism of its members.

By introducing policies for mutual growth with partner companies, Hanssem has achieved an “Excellent” rating for five consecutive years in the mutual growth index evaluation?the first in the furniture industry. In particular, it received the highest rating for two consecutive years in the fair trade agreement implementation evaluation. This has been recognized as solidifying a fair trade structure with partner companies. Based on these achievements, Hanssem has been granted a two-year exemption from the Fair Trade Commission’s ex officio investigations, exemption from regular surveys on consignment transactions by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups, and additional points in the Public Procurement Service’s pre-qualification screening for public bidding.

Han Seung-hoon, head of Hanssem’s Ethical Management Office, said, “To achieve continuous growth through differentiated competitiveness, a company must gain the trust of all stakeholders and fulfill its social responsibilities by adhering to principles and making correct decisions. We will do our best to create standards and an environment where all Hanssem executives and employees can make legally and ethically sound decisions.”
