"Administrative Efforts to Be Focused for Tangible Results Next Year"
The pledge fulfillment rate of Choi Woncheol, Mayor of Gongju, Chungnam, has been reported at 82.7%.
On the 19th, Gongju City announced this result during a Policy Advisory Committee meeting held at the Goma Convention Hall.
The 8th popularly elected administration has 76 pledges across four main sectors, of which 37 projects have been completed. Another 39 projects are currently underway. As of the 15th, the pledge fulfillment rate was tallied at 82.7%.
The four main municipal goals are: 80.2% in the "Premium City Overflowing with People" sector, 79.7% in the "Vibrant Economic City" sector, 90.72% in the "Happy Citizens through Education and Welfare" sector, and 80.3% in the "Cultured and Touristic City of Distinction" sector.
Key projects include attracting public and related institutions to spur local development (such as the Korea Food Safety Management Certification Institute), promoting the New 5 Provinces 2 Villages Policy (establishing a dedicated organization and foundational ordinances), commencing construction of the second Geumgang Bridge within the term, and implementing practical free education for ages 0 to 18.
Other initiatives include increasing the operating budget for senior centers (an additional 50,000 KRW per month) and expanding health management support, creating the Ungjin Baekje Cultural Village to highlight Gongju’s identity (securing 40 billion KRW in seed funding), developing the Geumgang (Eocheon and Jukdang) gardens (securing 1 billion KRW for detailed design), and establishing forest leisure sports facilities utilizing forest resources (securing 7.5 billion KRW).
Additionally, the city has completed building houses for returning farmers and rural migrants, creating a trail to revitalize the Eungaegol Historic Park, developing the Yuguchon Ecological Riverside Park, and constructing resident-friendly convenience facilities.
Previously, in May, Mayor Choi received the highest grade, SA (Superior), in the 8th National Basic Local Government Head Pledge Fulfillment and Information Disclosure Evaluation from the Korea Manifesto Implementation Headquarters.
The city plans to further expand resident participation by disclosing the progress of pledge projects on its official website.
Mayor Choi Woncheol stated, "Our efforts to keep our valuable promises to citizens are bearing fruitful results," and added, "As next year will be a crucial time with the completion of major projects, we will focus all administrative capabilities to achieve tangible outcomes."
