Opening on January 15 Next Year at the Jayu Small Theater, Seoul Arts Center
The play 'Umimachi Diary' is returning to the stage after about a year.
'Umimachi Diary' is based on the manga of the same name by Japanese manga artist Yoshida Akimi, which was serialized in the Japanese women's manga magazine 'Flowers' from 2006 to 2018. In 2015, the renowned Japanese film director Koreeda Hirokazu adapted it into a film, making it widely known to the public. Koreeda's film received attention by winning the Audience Award at the 63rd San Sebasti?n International Film Festival in 2015, and at the 39th Japan Academy Prize in 2016, it won Outstanding Work Award, Outstanding Director Award, Outstanding Cinematography Award, Outstanding Lighting Award, and New Actor Award.
'Umimachi Diary' depicts the process of three sisters, Sachi, Yoshino, and Chika, accepting their half-sister Suzu, whom they met at their father's funeral, into their family.
'Umimachi Diary' was also produced as a play in Japan in 2017, and domestically, Library Company produced it as a play and performed it at the Jayu Small Theater in the Seoul Arts Center from October to November last year. Library Company plans to present a revival stage at the same venue from January 15 to March 23 next year.
Han Hye-jin, Park Ha-sun, Lim Soo-hyang, Seo Ye-hwa, Kang Hae-jin, Ryu I-jae, Seol Ga-eun, Yoo Na, Lee Yoon-seo, Lee Kang-wook, and Lee Jung-mi, who appeared in the premiere stage, will return to the stage, and Hong Eun-hee, Yoo Yi, So Ju-yeon, Shin Ye-seo, Yoo Seok-hyun, Lee Joo-won, Oh Yong, and Kim Jung-young will newly join.
