Pyeongchang-gun, Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province (Governor Shim Jae-guk) announced that the Pyeongchang-gun Prosperity Association held a "Jecheon~Pyeongchang Railway Network Inclusion Pyeongchang Residents' Wish Resolution Ceremony" on the 18th at the square in front of the bell tower of Pyeongchang-gun Office.

This event was hosted by the Pyeongchang-gun Prosperity Association Promotion Committee, where Pyeongchang residents, the county administration, and the county council jointly conveyed their wishes for the inclusion of the railway network both domestically and internationally.

The ceremony was attended by Shim Jae-guk, Governor of Pyeongchang-gun, Nam Jin-sam, Chairman of the Pyeongchang County Council and council members, Lee Chang-yeol, Chairman of the Special Promotion Committee (county council member), presidents of the prosperity associations of eight towns and townships, and officials from various institutions and social organizations, emphasizing the importance of including the Jecheon~Pyeongchang section in the 5th National Railway Network Construction Plan.

Especially at the ceremony, attendees shouted the slogan "Must include Jecheon~Pyeongchang in the 5th National Railway Network," highlighting the solidarity between residents and the administration. As the highlight of the ceremony, a wish balloon release performance was held, where 30 balloons decorated in red, blue, green, and sky blue?colors symbolizing Pyeongchang-gun?were released into the sky. Each balloon bore messages containing the wishes of Pyeongchang residents and the names of the towns and townships, symbolically expressing the will of each region.

This declaration was prepared with the intention of conveying the united will of Pyeongchang residents to the central government and Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province. Pyeongchang-gun plans to devise joint cooperation measures that can be undertaken by both the public and private sectors and actively support projects promoted by the private sector.

Jang Dong-gi, Chairman of the Pyeongchang-gun Prosperity Association Promotion Committee, said, "Through this declaration ceremony, Pyeongchang residents and the administration will unite to gather strong will for the inclusion of the railway network," adding, "Including the Jecheon~Pyeongchang railway network is necessary for revitalizing the local economy and expanding the transportation network, so the united voice of all residents is expected to bring about significant change."

Shim Jae-guk, Governor of Pyeongchang-gun, emphasized, "The inclusion of the Jecheon~Pyeongchang railway network is not just about expanding transportation infrastructure but is a crucial task for Pyeongchang-gun to achieve sustainable development and improve the quality of life for local residents," stating, "Once the Jecheon~Pyeongchang railway network is established, it will be an important turning point for Pyeongchang’s future, including regional economic growth, revitalization of the tourism industry, and improvement of transportation infrastructure."
