Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon visited the Donui-dong jjokbangchon (gosiwon village) in Jongno-gu to inspect special winter protection measures. Despite the martial law situation and impeachment crisis, Mayor Oh has been emphasizing 'daily stability' and attending to the livelihood economy day after day.

On the morning of the 18th, Mayor Oh visited the Donui-dong jjokbang counseling center to check facilities in preparation for the cold wave and met with residents to listen to their difficulties. At this meeting, Mayor Oh promised a thorough inspection and support to ensure that vulnerable groups do not suffer during the cold wave.

In particular, he visited the 'Warmth Warehouse,' where goods received from companies and sponsors are distributed, to check not only the sponsorship status but also the demand conditions. He then directly checked the fire safety system and, together with on-site officials, inspected the installation status of fire alarms, snow removal tools, and gas safety systems. Afterwards, he met with jjokbang residents and urged them to check for frozen pipes.

Earlier, Mayor Oh emphasized the role of local governments in recovering the livelihood economy, which had been weakened by the martial law situation, stating that "citizens' anxieties must be alleviated." Following his daily attention to emergency economic meetings, he visited the jjokbangchon on the coldest day recorded this year. Mayor Oh also instructed each autonomous district to establish emergency support measures considering heating cost burdens due to the cold wave and prevention of winter diseases.

The day before, after the National Assembly passed the presidential impeachment motion, Mayor Oh met with governors from across the country for the first time to agree on the need to expand communication with the government and the National Assembly to resolve common issues of cities and provinces. At this meeting, plans for emergency support measures reflecting the difficulties faced by local small business owners and self-employed people, which Seoul City has emphasized, were discussed. Mayor Oh also agreed on the content demanding strong economic recovery policies such as cooperation plans among cities and provinces, prompt preparation of supplementary budgets by the National Assembly and government, and rapid execution of finances.

Alongside his livelihood-focused activities, he did not hesitate to deliver messages as a senior figure in the ruling party. The day before, Mayor Oh claimed that "the existence of Lee Jae-myung, who seems to be engrossed in 'retired king play' as if he were already president, is the greatest risk to South Korea's economy and politics." He also referred to Lee meeting James Kim, chairman of the American Chamber of Commerce in Korea, and calling South Korea a 'bargain buying opportunity,' criticizing that "while speaking flattering words, he continues the parliamentary outrage that strangles businesses behind the scenes."
