The prosecution arrested 'Geonjin Beopsa,' known as a close associate of President Yoon Seok-yeol and his wife, and conducted a forced investigation of his residence and other locations.
On the 18th, the Seoul Southern District Prosecutors' Office Virtual Asset Crime Joint Investigation Team (Head Park Geon-wook) announced that they had arrested Jeon Seong-bae (64), known as 'Geonjin Beopsa,' on the previous morning on charges of violating the Political Funds Act. On the same day, the prosecution also conducted a search and seizure of Jeon's residence and his temple.
According to the prosecution, Jeon, a shaman, is suspected of collecting illegal political funds from politicians under the pretext of helping with the 2018 local elections.
Jeon is reported to have previously served as an advisor to Kobana Contents, where Mrs. Kim was the representative. Later, he was active in President Yoon's presidential campaign, involved in the campaign headquarters' affairs, and allegedly flaunted his close relationship with President Yoon and his wife, raising suspicions of interference in the People Power Party's nomination process.
