According to local media on the 17th, during the keynote speech at the 12th National Science and Technology Conference of the Executive Yuan the previous day, Chairman Wei said, "A few days ago, I spoke with the richest person in the world, and he said that the field to focus on in the future is not automobiles but multifunctional robots."

Chairman Wei added, "I asked him if he had any concerns, and he said he was worried that no one would supply him with (semiconductor) chips," and continued, "So I told him, 'You don't need to worry; if you have money, you can buy chips.'"

Although Chairman Wei did not directly mention the name Elon Musk in his speech, media outlets in Taiwan and the Greater China region reported that Wei met and spoke with Musk.

Following this remark, Tesla's stock rose 6.14% to $463.02, reaching an all-time high.

TSMC recently received a request from the U.S. government to halt the supply of high-performance semiconductors to China. Meanwhile, Tesla is making massive investments, operating a large electric vehicle factory in Shanghai, China.
