On the 16th, Gwangju City announced that it held the '2nd Children Safety Heroes Inauguration Ceremony' at the City Hall Citizen Hall on the 14th.

The city, in collaboration with autonomous districts, the Office of Education, and schools, recruited volunteers among 4th and 5th grade elementary school students since October, selecting 41 students from 13 schools as the '2nd Children Safety Heroes.'

The 'Children Safety Heroes,' including 58 students from 10 schools currently active as the 1st group, total 99 students from 23 schools who will directly identify hazardous elements around schools such as playgrounds and school routes and report them to the Safety Report Center.

The city plans to recognize volunteer hours and award outstanding children who participate as Children Safety Heroes.

At the inauguration ceremony, the program proceeded with screening safety education videos on traffic, fire, and daily safety, a safety practice pledge, and the presentation of appointment letters and Safety Guardian badges.

To raise safety awareness among children and prevent safety accidents, the '1st Children Safety Golden Bell Championship' was held. Hosted by SafeOn, the championship featured about 100 elementary school students who passed the preliminary round, answering subjective, objective, and true/false quizzes on disaster and safety knowledge necessary for children's daily lives, thereby enhancing their safety knowledge and disaster response skills.

Lee Bu-ho, Safety Policy Officer, stated, "We will do our best to ensure that the Children Safety Heroes can take pride in themselves through various safety culture activities such as safety experience education and campaigns, becoming the foundation for a safe Gwangju."
