"Creating Regional Development Momentum Through Efficient Execution"
Muan-gun, Jeollanam-do (Governor Kim San) announced on the 13th that it has secured a national and provincial budget of 518.3 billion KRW for 2025, an increase of 28.1 billion KRW (5.7%) compared to this year.
This achievement is even more significant as it was accomplished amid a local financial crisis caused by the government's fiscal austerity policy, a reduction in local allocation tax due to intensive structural adjustments, and cuts in SOC project expenses.
This success was achieved through civil servants identifying projects that align with government policies and regional characteristics, visiting Jeollanam-do and related ministries, and collaborating with members of the National Assembly. The secured SOC projects include the construction of the Honam High-Speed Railway Phase 2, extension of the runway at Muan International Airport, large-scale agricultural development in the Yeongsangang IV district, construction of the Muan Hyeongyeong-Haeje national highway, and access roads to the Muan Aviation Specialized Industrial Complex.
Key new projects aimed at revitalizing the local economy include the Doripo tourism scenic spot development project, smart city solution expansion project, construction of a senior-friendly national sports center, and renovation of livestock manure joint resource facilities along with support projects for improving livestock odor.
Governor Kim San stated, "We will efficiently execute next year’s budget to create momentum for regional development," and added, "We will do our best to successfully carry out current projects with the budget secured this time."
