The Ministry of Health and Welfare’s ‘Early Life Health Management Project’ is a customized health management service in which health nurses specialized in infant and toddler care, who have completed professional training, visit the homes of pregnant women and families with infants within 8 weeks after childbirth to provide free consultations on the baby’s development and parenting education.
Since being first selected in the 2020 project competition, Guri City has been providing home visit services. Starting with mother gatherings in 2022, and from 2023 as a pledge project of the 8th local government administration, the city newly established and operated the ‘Mother Care Academy’ course to enhance the parenting capabilities of novice mothers. Through these efforts to realize a ‘city happy to have and raise children,’ Guri City achieved great success by being selected as an outstanding institution in 2024.
Residents of Guri City who wish to apply for this project, which focuses on professional health management for mothers and infants and support for strengthening parenting capabilities, can register regardless of income level by visiting the health center in person or by phone within 8 weeks after childbirth.
Mayor Baek Kyung-hyun stated, “Creating the best city to raise babies is the most important task for sustainable urban development,” and added, “We will take the lead in providing necessary information for healthy childbirth and parenting, and in fostering a childbirth-friendly social atmosphere.”
