"One Step Closer Through Startups"... Dongmyeong University, Major-Linked Startup Idea Discovery Competition

Do-ing (Challenge·Experience·Practice) Dongmyeong University recently held the TU-Creator Major-Linked Startup Item Idea Discovery Competition in a substantial manner.

On December 6, 32 students from the Well-Life specialized departments?College of Health and Welfare Education, College of Companion Animals, and College of Beauty Arts?participated in the competition, focusing on discovering creative ideas and enhancing startup potential. They exhibited and presented their idea posters, engaging in a heated contest.

The grand prize winner, Minju Lee from the Department of Companion Animal Health, presented the ‘Wearable Harness,’ a device designed to enable communication, training, and health management for hearing-impaired companion animals. This product was inspired by the rapid growth of the companion animal industry as more households raise pets, yet there are few products available for pets with disabilities.

The idea was highly praised for its originality and analysis of existing products, particularly for utilizing specific vibration patterns to communicate with pets and for disease prevention through data accumulation.

The judging panel included five experts, among them Young-ae Yang, president of the Korean Society for Age-Friendly Industry, who offered encouragement and advice to the awardees.

Professor Mirim Jo, the lead professor of TU-Creator, stated, “The students’ creative and convergent idea discovery has increased the likelihood of these ideas leading to major-related startups. We will continue to provide various supports so that students can realize their potential through challenge and practice.”
