The ‘Disaster Response Safe Korea Training’ is a nationwide comprehensive training aimed at strengthening disaster preparedness, jointly participated by central government ministries, public institutions, and local governments.
On October 24, Pocheon conducted a complex disaster response drill based on a scenario of a forest fire caused by a training accident at the Seungjin Training Ground in the Idong-myeon area.
The drill was conducted under the assumption that the forest fire spreading from the military base to nearby residential areas would escalate into a large-scale fire and explosion, involving a joint civil-military operation. About 380 personnel from 19 organizations and groups, including the Ministry of National Defense and Pocheon Fire Station, participated in the training.
Pocheon received high praise for conducting the drill reflecting the geographical characteristics of frequent forest fires and the regional characteristics of frequent forest fires occurring during military shooting training, establishing an organic cooperation system with related organizations such as the Ministry of National Defense and Pocheon Fire Station, and for Mayor Baek Young-hyun personally leading the command to conduct a drill identical to an actual disaster situation.
Mayor Baek Young-hyun of Pocheon said, “Thanks to the active cooperation of related organizations, private groups, and citizens who participated in the training, we were selected as an excellent institution in the Safe Korea Training for two consecutive years. We will continue to prioritize citizens’ safety and create a safer Pocheon through repeated training that reflects real situations.”
