Yongsan-gu, Seoul (District Mayor Park Hee-young) will hold the 2024 Yongsan Youth Activity Performance Sharing Meeting, "Yongsan-gu Youth Closing Party," at 7 p.m. on the 11th at Yongsan Youth Jium (17 Seobinggo-ro, Public Facility Building 3rd floor). This event is an opportunity to look back on a year led by youth, communicate, and share future development plans.
At the sharing meeting, about 50 Yongsan youth and related officials will attend to present the achievements of activities carried out by Yongsan Youth Jium, four divisions of the Yongsan-gu Youth Policy Network, and five youth clubs, wrapping up youth activities for the year.
Yongsan Youth Jium serves as a hub for youth activities in Yongsan. It is equipped with spaces for youth including a book lounge, community hall, Yongsan-gu metropolitan job cafe, relaxation areas such as massage chairs, a mini movie theater, meeting rooms, and a shared kitchen.
The Yongsan-gu Youth Policy Network is now in its third term this year. Thirty-two members have been divided into four divisions focusing on jobs, culture and arts, welfare, and institutional promotion.
The Youth Policy Network conducted specialized training to discover policy agendas and proposed various policies to promote youth rights through deliberative processes such as division meetings and roundtable discussions. The district’s newly launched “National Certification Exam Fee Support Project” this year was a project proposed to the district by the Youth Policy Network last year, and projects suggested this year are also being reviewed for inclusion in next year’s plans.
Youth clubs were conducted as public contest projects to allow youth to autonomously participate and engage in the local community. The selected clubs include Baraneunbada (daily exercise and music concerts), Yongki (art experience activities and Ssedam Running [plogging]), I Read, Write, and Speak Today as Well (reading activities), Yongsan Culture Crew (cultural and artistic experience gatherings), and Cheongryongin (website production supporting mental health for unemployed youth), totaling five clubs.
At the sharing meeting, the four-member youth band “Dayangseong” will perform a congratulatory show. The band “Dayangseong” won the “Super Rookie Award” at this year’s Incheon Pentaport Rock Festival.
District Mayor Park Hee-young said, “I hope this will be an opportunity for everyone to feel and realize that the creative ideas of youth are a force that positively changes Yongsan-gu,” adding, “The district will continue to do its best so that youth can communicate with the local community and develop together.”
