Completion of One-Year Hwiyagang Exploration Team Activities

The Soju-dong Residents' Autonomy Committee in Yangsan-si, Gyeongnam, held the Hoeyagang Youth Exploration Team completion ceremony on the 8th.

Composed of about 40 youths from the Ungsang area, the Hoeyagang Youth Exploration Team was recruited in March this year and began activities with participation in the Hoeyaje Water Festa event, followed by the launch ceremony in June. The team explored the ecology, environment, culture, and history of Hoeyagang every month.

The youth exploration team also participated in various events such as Hoeyagang flower garden cultivation, Hoeyagang drawing contest, EM mud ball throwing, and Hoeyagang storytelling, understanding the value of Hoeyagang and recognizing the relics and history of Ungsang. On the 8th, they successfully concluded a year of activities and received certificates from Kim San-seok, the chairman of the Residents' Autonomy Committee.

Team member Kang Ha-jin said in a speech at the completion ceremony, “Through the Hoeyagang exploration team activities, I learned about the flora and fauna living in Hoeyagang, as well as relics and various legends. I am proud to have participated in the Hoeyagang drawing contest and the production of the storytelling booklet, and I will cherish these experiences.”

Kim San-seok, chairman of the Residents' Autonomy Committee, said, “I congratulate all the exploration team members for their hard work over the past year and the completion ceremony. I especially thank the parents of the team members and the Hoeyagang Preservation Citizens' Coalition for their unwavering support to enable the team members to participate in the activities. Although the Hoeyagang Youth Exploration Team activities conclude this year, I expect that interest and affection for Hoeyagang will continue.”
