Discussion on Defense Export Strategy and Win-Win Development Plans for Large, Medium, and Small Enterprises
Changwon Special City in Gyeongnam held the ‘K-Defense Future Innovation Forum’ at the Changwon Convention Center on the 5th.
This forum was planned against the backdrop of the Russia-Ukraine war and the crisis situation in the Middle East, amid a global surge of interest in the defense industry, to seek new growth engines for Changwon’s defense companies and explore win-win strategies among large, medium, and small enterprises.
The event was attended by about 250 defense-related figures, including Hong Nampyo, Mayor of Changwon Special City, Son Taehwa, Chairman of the Changwon City Council, Kim Myungju, Vice Governor of Gyeongsangnam-do for Economic Affairs, Heo Ukgu, Secretary General of the Republic of Korea Army Association, and Jung Youngsik, Chairman of Beomhan Group. The first session of the event focused on ‘Future Warfare and Manned-Unmanned Complex System Response and Export Strategies,’ while the second session dealt with ‘Localization of Core Components in K-Defense and Win-Win Strategies.’
In particular, besides the main event, an exhibition space was set up to introduce the current status and ongoing projects of Changwon’s defense industry, showcasing key products from 28 defense small and medium enterprises including Changwon Technology Precision, Youngpoong Electronics, and KIFCO Aerospace. Attendees showed positive responses as they were able to directly verify the technological capabilities and quality of K-Defense through the exhibition.
Hong Nampyo, Mayor of Changwon Special City, stated, “Changwon City is dedicated to building an industry-academia-research-military cooperation system based on excellent infrastructure, developing new technologies, pioneering overseas markets, and fostering technology-innovative defense companies,” adding, “We will continue to do our best to help defense companies continuously strengthen their competitiveness.”
