Excluding Excessive Facilities... Nature-Friendly Walking Trails
Hwaseong City in Gyeonggi Province is embarking on the creation of nature-friendly barefoot walking trails centered around urban parks for the health of its citizens.
On the 5th, Hwaseong City announced plans to establish barefoot walking trails in 23 urban parks, including Seonnap Forest Park, by next year.
The city plans to create the trails by maximizing the use of existing dirt paths according to the 'Barefoot Walking Trail Creation and Management Guidelines.' During the trail construction process, the city intends to avoid excessive installation of facilities and maintain the natural appearance while carrying out maintenance. In particular, to ensure efficient maintenance of the trails, the city will strengthen sustainability through concise and practical planning.
Earlier, in April of last year, the city became the first local government in Gyeonggi Province to enact a Barefoot Walking Ordinance. The city aims to develop the barefoot walking trails into hubs that connect the local community and revitalize social interaction.
Jung Myung-geun, mayor of Hwaseong City, said, "Hwaseong City's barefoot walking trails will become precious spaces where citizens can walk, breathe, and regain health and relaxation in harmony with nature," adding, "Through the creation of these trails, we will enhance the value of the city as an eco-friendly urban area where city and nature coexist."
