On the 3rd, it was revealed belatedly that Speaker of the National Assembly Woo Won-sik entered the National Assembly by climbing over a wall during the imposition of martial law.
According to a National Assembly official, Speaker Woo was staying at the National Assembly main building in Hannam-dong, Yongsan-gu, his residence at the time martial law was declared. After being informed by Kim Min-ki, Secretary General of the National Assembly, that President Yoon Seok-yeol had declared martial law, he headed to the National Assembly.

The official stated, "After confirming that martial law troops were not deployed at the Hannam-dong official residence, he departed," adding, "Upon arriving at Yeouido and checking the entrance, he climbed over the wall between Gate 3 and Gate 4." It is known that at that time, Speaker Woo entered by climbing over the wall accompanied only by the head of his security detail and two others.
The head of security took photographs of Speaker Woo climbing over the wall as a record. Later, fearing that martial law troops might detain Speaker Woo, he was at an undisclosed location and is known to have entered the National Assembly plenary chamber.
An official from the Speaker’s office responded to allegations regarding arrest attempts on People Power Party leader Han Dong-hoon and Democratic Party leader Lee Jae-myung, stating, "No visible traces of martial law troops related to the arrest of the Speaker have been confirmed."
