Roles as assistants for civil complaints, tourist information, and multilingual interpretation
Yeongdeok-gun, Gyeongbuk Province, has introduced and is operating an advanced civil service guide robot named ‘Deogi Jumu-gwan’ to enhance the convenience of civil petitioners and tourists and to reduce the workload of employees.
‘Deogi Jumu-gwan’ is based on autonomous driving and AI technology, providing various services such as civil petition guidance and local introductions in the Comprehensive Civil Service Processing Department and lobby areas. It freely moves around key areas within the government building, performing roles such as civil petition guidance, facility location guidance, and directions.
Additionally, it is equipped with voice recognition and multilingual interpretation functions, enabling communication with visitors as well as providing information on major local tourist attractions and cultural heritage sites.
Yeongdeok-gun expects that the civil service guide robot ‘Deogi Jumu-gwan’ will effectively perform its role as a long-term civil service assistant, offering more convenient and prompt smart services to civil petitioners and visitors.
Kim Ok-hee, head of the Comprehensive Civil Service Processing Department, stated, “We plan to continuously expand the introduction of smart services to enhance the convenience of our residents. Although the newly introduced service robot is still in the demonstration phase and may have some shortcomings, we ask for the warm interest and understanding of our residents so that the service robot can settle in more smoothly.”
